Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) started a Twitter fight with “Hellboy” actor Ron Perlman early Monday morning in which the senator volunteered Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who served as assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University, to wrestle the actor.

  1. Jun 15, 2020 — Ron Perlman (@perlmutations) June 15, 2020 Perlman finally shut Gaetz up with this tweet. PS: You’re lucky for this guy Matt. If it weren’t for him you’d be the ugliest politician walking.

Perlman had gotten into a feud with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) on Sunday after the congressman complained about the U.S. Soccer Federation rolling back its policy requiring players to stand during the national anthem.

At one point, Perlman took a swipe at Jordan and told Gaetz, “If it weren’t for him you’d be the ugliest politician walking.”

As his Twitter followers clearly know by now, Ron Perlman is no fan of Donald Trump. The actor, who is best known for Sons of Anarchy and Hellboy, frequently vents about the current political climate via tweets. Often, the POTUS is the target of such tweets. Trump was once again in Perlman's crosshairs on Wednesday, and in especially fiery fashion.

That’s when Cruz jumped in to defend the Ohio congressman’s honor.

“Listen Hellboy. You talk good game when you’ve got Hollywood makeup & stuntmen,” the senator tweeted at nearly 1 a.m. ET on Monday. “But I’ll bet $10k—to the nonpolitical charity of your choice—that you couldn’t last 5 min in the wrestling ring [with] @Jim_Jordan [without] getting pinned. You up for it? Or does your publicist say too risky?”

Perlman responded by challenging Cruz to fight him himself instead of getting someone else to do it.

“I tell you what teddy boy, since mentioning jim jordan and wrestling is… problematic, why don’t we say fuck him and just make it you & me,” the actor tweeted, alluding to allegations that Jordan had ignored OSU wrestlers’ accusations of sexual abuse against former wrestling doctor Richard Strauss.

“I’ll give 50k to Black Lives Matter and you can keep all the tax payer money you were thinking of spending,” Perlman tweeted.

“I get it, you’re rich,” Cruz, whose worth net worth is at least north of $1 million, replied. “But, apparently, soft. You sure seem scared to wrestle Jordan (whom you keep insulting).”

The senator’s bizarre taunt prompted Perlman to ask the million-dollar question: “Teddy, Teddy, what kind of a muthafucka offers to have another guy, probably asleep at the time, kick another guy’s ass?”

It is unclear whether Cruz consulted with Jordan before challenging Perlman to a wrestling match with the congressman. Jordan’s office did not immediately respond to TPM’s inquiry.

Correction: This post originally had a photo of David Harbour playing Hellboy, not Perlman. David Harbour is not, and, as far as we know, has never been in a Twitter war with Cruz. We abstain from judging who was the better Hellboy.

Ted Cruz Ron Perlman

Ron Pearlman, Hellboy himself, is no stranger to fighting with conservatives on social media. On Monday however, he found himself in a war of words with Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. It was actually really bizarre, with Cruz wading into a fight that is ongoing with Pearlman and Rep. Matt Gaetz. Gaetz said he was going to introduce a bill forcing athletes on USSF teams to stand for the national anthem. Ron Pearlman tweeted at Gaetz and President Trump saying 'The US Soccer team called and you guessed it… said they couldn't give any less of a f-k about what you two dipsh-s think.' The two went back and forth, and for some reason Ted Cruz decided to stick hiw nose in.

Pearlman responded in kind:

Wait, is this THEE Ted Cruz? Holy shit man! Is this the same guy let little Donnie call his wife A dog and his father an assassin and now kisses his ass? Yo, can I get your autograph man? https://t.co/6QDwCaEkpv

That is super funny, and it could have stopped there. But, it didn't.

Rep. Jim Jordan BTW wrestled and has been implicated in having knowledge about the sexual abuse going on in the school. So, not exactly a pillar of honor. Yet, Cruz continued to ask Ron Pearlman to wrestle him. Pearlman ended the fight with these gems.

Let's get back to bidness ted. jim jordan's too easy, just a little bitch. But you teddy, you talk shit about New York every chance you get. My hometown. It's personal. Let's go mofo!

Twitter

This is the time we live in, where actors and sitting US Senators are arguing about fighting each other on social media. While this is all admittedly funny as hell, it is sadder to see this type of thing pop up.

Even Gaetz saying some of the things at Ron Pearlman about his Sons of Anarchy role, calling him a'racial justice warrior' who 'had no problem in Hollywood portraying the White Supremacist leader of a motorcycle gang.' got him nowhere. Perlman responded by saying it was 'So rewarding playing a-h–s on tv. Tell me sir, how is it actually being one?' I am pretty sure these two men have more important things to worry about than fighting Clay from SOA.
