AnyDesk is a remote desktop application distributed by AnyDesk Software GmbH. The proprietary software program provides platform independent remote access to personal computers and other devices running the host application. It offers remote control, file transfer, and VPN functionality. Tecadmin published a tutorial about installing AnyDesk on macOS.How to Install AnyDesk on macOS The AnyDesk is the remote desktop application available for the macOS, Linux and Windows systems. It provides easy to install and use options for remote users. The homebrew may not have updated AnyDesk version. AnyDesk is not only compatible with Windows 10, but many other operating systems and their various versions, including iOS, macOS, Linux and Android. What is more, AnyDesk facilitates managing your remote desktop contacts and connections and administrating all settings and configurations in Windows, so you can focus on your projects rather than their administration.

AnyDesk Main Window on iOS

AnyDesk provides a fast and easy to use iOS App. Connect to Windows Server, choose your preferred Input-Mode or use the special-keyboard to work on other platforms.
AnyDesk is compatible with iOS 11.0 or later.

Note:
  • The address book is not yet available for iOS
  • The license can’t be assigned to iOS/iPadOS/tvOS devices yet
  • Remote view is only possible since version 12.0
  • Remote-control is not possible due to restrictions of the vendor

AnyDesk 5.0.0 for iOS and newer
With AnyDesk 5.0.0 and later on iOS, the background limitation has been removed for incoming connections.
Please note if using an AnyDesk client older than the following:

  • AnyDesk 6.0.8 for Windows
  • AnyDesk 6.0.1 for macOS
  • AnyDesk 6.0.1 for Linux, FreeBSD, and Raspbian

you will receive a prompt asking you to update AnyDesk versions or to use the 'Remote Restart' action found in Actions on the AnyDesk toolbar.

During session, open the Menu-Tab by swiping from left or right-hand side of the screen to control all aspects of the session.

iOS AnyDesk file explorer

File Transfer

For AnyDesk 5.1.0 and newer, file transfer between an iOS and non-iOS operating system is possible.

File transfer to and from tvOS devices is currently not possible.

Transfer a file from an iOS device to a non-iOS device:

  1. Use the 'Share' action on the file you wish to transfer within the Apple File application, select 'More' then 'AnyDesk'.
    1. As of AnyDesk 5.2.0, this Share to AnyDesk feature is also available in the Apple Photos application.
  2. AnyDesk will open where you can enter or select the AnyDesk-ID you wish to transfer the file to.
  3. After the remote computer has accepted the AnyDesk connection, you can navigate to the folder you wish to place the File in and tap the red bar at the bottom to transfer the file.

Retrieve a file from a non-iOS device:

  1. Enter the AnyDesk-ID/Alias of the device you wish to retrieve the file from on the iOS device
  2. Hold the 'Connect' button and a prompt will appear asking if you want to 'Connect' regularly or start a File Transfer session.
  3. Once the remote device has accepted the connection, the iOS device will be transferred to a File Explorer view.
  4. Select the file you wish to retrieve and tap the red download button at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Select the location where the downloaded file should be saved on the iOS device.


tvOS

AnyDesk for tvOS shares many of the features and settings from the AnyDesk for iOS app. Below you will find a tutorial of how to use our tvOS app which can also be found within the app itself.

AnyDesk outputs a log/trace file while running, that can be utilized to diagnose problems.

Some errors occur without causing an immediate crash. Those may lead to a malicious behaviour. It is therefore quite helpful if you report issues including some documentation as well as the trace files from both participating devices.

  • Start AnyDesk, open the menu and select the About AnyDesk.
  • Click Send support information:

AnyDesk will create a folder to your desktop. This folder contains the ad.trace and the ad_svc.trace file.

To manually retrieve trace files from its directories:

files are named:

ad.trace and ad_svc.trace

Submitting trace Files for several devices

In case you submit files from two or more devices, please rename manually to allocate them to the corresponding device. For example:

Linux

To open the folder which contain the trace files, select About AnyDesk in the main menu.

In the about tab, click Send support information.... The trace file is named anydesk.trace.


If necessary please additionally send us your 'Service Log'.

To retrieve the trace files on Linux, open the terminal and copy&paste (cmd+c & cmd+v):

cp /var/log/anydesk.trace ~/

Anydesk Macos Permissions

This will copy the files to your home folder.


macOS

On macOS, please additionally send us your 'System Report'.

Apple Menu > 'About This Mac' > 'Overview' > 'System Report'

To retrieve the trace files on Mac, open the terminal and copy&paste (cmd+c & cmd+v):

cp /var/log/anydesk.trace ~/Desktop/anydesk.trace


In case AnyDesk is not installed (run portable) use:

cp ~/.anydesk/*.trace ~/Desktop/

The command will copy the requested files on your desktop.

  • Choose Send Support Information

  • Go to About AnyDesk

Log File

AnyDesk creates a connection trace file logging Session details such as Direction, Date and Time, involved Ids. The connection trace is a text file located in:%programdata%/AnyDesk
